Men's Leather Wallets

Let’s simplify men’s leather wallets

Premium full grain men’s leather wallets tell their own story. They don’t need our input. At Duvall Leatherwork, we get out of the way so the leather can speak for itself.

When it comes to men’s leather wallets, that means stripping down to nothing, then building back up slowly and deliberately. It starts with basic requirements. You need a cash pocket (yeah, some people still use cash every now and then) and a couple card pockets.

That’s literally all your leather wallet needs. Anything else is extra.

The materials you choose, the way you shape them and ultimately assemble and finish them makes all the difference. Those elements are the difference between a leather wallet that lasts a couple years, or one that you carry for decades.

More components give you more possible points of failure. With that in mind, Duvall Leatherworks collection of men’s leather wallets are stunning for their simplicity. Subtle flourishes give each one its distinct character, the kind that you’ll find only in Duvall products.

For example, we make the Bifold Wallet with just eight pieces of leather. It’s built with reinforced wear points which add durability and strength.

Card pockets gently curve downward at the middle so you can easily pluck out the cards you need. Those curves are also a great example of those subtle design flourishes that add function and a distinctive look.

The Bifold Wallet does not have a see-through ID pocket. However, we have other options available for those who want one. These options include the Bifold Wallet with ID Window and the Trifold Wallet.

Premium Leather

When building genuine leather wallets, just like building a home, we begin with a foundation. When quality materials go first, everything after that comes easier. Starting with the best leather sets the tone for all the steps after that.

At Duvall Leatherwork, we all hold a deep respect for quality materials. We think quality leather demands to be treated that way, so we take extra care when cutting, assembling, sewing and finishing our leather wallets.

At Duvall Leatherwork, we use a combination of premium, USA tanned leather full grain leather to create classic and contemporary style men’s leather wallets. Since this is the starting point, we’re extra careful when working with suppliers to source only the best stuff.

We visit tanneries like this one, review their processes and make actual products with their leather. Then we spend even more time with the leather. We pocket our own wallets and test drive them well beyond the break-in period.

Time-tested methods

From 20 plus years of experience in the leather goods industry, designer and craftsman Nick Duvall has developed Duvall Leatherwork’s signature look and reputation for quality. He knows how leather twists and folds. He knows how it ages and how to reinforce wear points so that users get the most use and life out of each piece.

That knowledge Mr. Duvall has come from thousands of hours of professionally working with leather. But crafting stunning personal accessories also takes an innate knack and an artistic eye. The crafters at Duvall Leatherwork have both — experience working with one of the most durable, useful materials of all time and an appreciation for what makes beautiful leather goods.

LEATHER WALLET TYPES

Bifold Wallets

By far the most popular wallet type, the Bifold Wallet is also one of the most simple leather wallets. And chief among them are the Bison Leather Bifold Wallets. If you need more bells and whistles, check out the Bison Leather Bifold Wallet with an ID window. It’s got two extra card pockets plus a flip-up pocket for your driver’s license.

Trifold Wallets

Leather Trifold Wallets have more pockets, a cash section divider and a standard ID window. They’re vertical compared to horizontal bifold wallets.

Compact Wallets

The non-wallet-carrier’s favorite wallet. Stick an ID card and a credit card inside a Money Clip Wallet or the Small Wallet and you’re good to go.

Deluxe Wallets

Deluxe wallets — the Passport Wallet and Notebook Wallet — do more than just carry cards and cash. They have other functions. As their names suggest, the Passport Wallet has a special pocket for passports. The Notebook Wallet has a pocket for a Rhodia No. 11 notepad.

The Men’s Leather Wallet break-in period

If you’ve never felt brand new, quality leather goods, the first time could be a little strange. New leather feels surprisingly stiff and rigid. That’s because it needs to break in.

The leather break-in period is the part where you make your leather wallet, belt or bag your own. This is the part where the story begins. Depending on how you use it, your leather wallet might achieve a soft, supple and flexible feel in a month or two. If you’re gentler, and don’t pull it out as often, your wallet might hold that stiffer feel for much longer.

Over time, you’ll get to know your leather goods. You’ll learn to appreciate that responsive, graceful aging process.

No matter what, these premium men’s leather wallets only look and feel better with time. For most men, a wallet is the kind of personal accessory you think about buying maybe once in a decade. Don’t suffer through with a cheap, blended leather wallet for 10 years. Take a stand for quality, handcrafted men’s accessories and feel proud every time you reach for your wallet.
